We at MYSTCIAL SIX YARDS, ARE AUTHORIZED USERS OF SILK MARK ORGANIZATION OF INDIA (SMOI). Our silk saree and silk dhothi’s are weaved from pure mulberry silk. Mulberry silk is made from the cocoon of the Bombyx mori moth. Before metamorphosis, the caterpillar feeds exclusively on the mulberry leaf—this is one of the reasons why this silk is known for its quality. The silk fabric is then spun from long fibers, which are strong, pure white, and collected from the moth’s cocoon. These individual strands of fiber are then converted to 2 ply yarns and separated for warp and weft, then woven together to create the silk fabric. Mulberry silk is a natural fiber. It contains sericin, a protein produced by the silkworm. During the silk processing, the water-soluble protein sericin is removed. The protein retained in the silk is called fibroin, which is rich in 18 amino acids, that makes it hypoallergenic, resistant to dust mites, and non-irritating to skin. Mulberry silk fabric also has a unique structure that allows it to wick moisture and regulate body temperature
